Jesus Berrocal

The geophysic Jesus Berrocal is a specialist in deep seismic, natural and induced seismicity and seismic risk assessment. Masters and doctorate in seismology at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, Great Britain, came to Brazil as the head of the university seismological expedition for the South American Seismograph System (SAAS) installation, which was the basis for seismology development at the University of Brasilia, where he worked as a teacher until 1972.
He was subsequently hired as a professor at the Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics and Atmospheric Sciences at USP, where he served until 2008. Among his major works can be highlighted (1) the deep seismic refraction performed in the Tocantins Province (300 km long) and he is coordinating the experiments of deep seismic refraction in Borborema Province (almost 1000 km long), (2) the seismic activity lifting of the Brazilian territory with data since 1560, which was published in the book Seismicity in Brazil, (3) various surveys of seismic activity near reservoirs for hydroelectric customers like CHESF Copel, CBA and ENGEVIX, (4) participated in the seismic activity survey in areas of Petrobras interest (the Campos Basin, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Sebastiao, SP) and Eletronuclear (Angra dos Reis, RJ), (5) performed the seismic risk evaluation for large engineering projects in Brazil and abroad, and (6) was responsible for compiling the first tectonic studies draft in Brazil, Tocantins Province, and is vice-coordinator of the geotectonic project of Borborema Province, which is being funded by the Millennium Institute of MCT CNPq.
Advised the equipment purchase for the Petrobrás geotectonic estudy network, which will allow the implementation of major tectonic surveys of regional character, as the Province Borborema. For more information [Click here]

Tatiana Machado Romero

Attends the eighth period of the course of the Geophysics Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics, University of São Paulo. Inside Berrocal & Associados serves in the analysis of seismographic data from southeastern Brazil, especially in Angra dos Reis (Nuclear Plants). Has experience in the epicentral data analysis, dominates the software SAC (Seismic Analysis Code) and WAP (Wave Analysis Program), developing tools for seismic bulletins as GMT (Global Mapping Tools), Google Earth, and disaz ttime.
